A Delft blue tile. Measuring 13 x 13 cm. Thickness 10 mm. The tile shows a man with a rosary and cross. It was made around 1650. At that time the population of the Low Countries was predominantly Protestant. A war to gain freedom of religion against the Roman Catholic Spanish King was finished shortly before. Tiles with obvious Roman Catholics were not very commonly on display.
