A dated oak Frisian writing box with "Kerbschnitt" decoration.

A small oak writing box. Measurements 24 x 16 x 12 cm. The box is entirely decorated with good quality "Kerbschnitt". On the lid the initials of the owner and the text: " Dis'Is'tein enc'ktla" (This is an ink-box) and "ANO 1767". The box rests on 4 ebony ballfeet. The interior has 4 comprtments, one for a glass inkpot with a pewter lid, one for a brass sand-dispenser, one for a piece of cloth and one for a writing feather-pen. The condition is excellent.
