A 19th C. Hindeloopen letterbox.

A letterbox. Height 49 cm. Width left 10 cm. Width right 5 cm. Painted in traditional colours and style of Hindeloopen in Friesland. The box was fixed to the inside of the door and prevented letters from dropping on the floor. Very few of these boxes have survived. Friesland, second half of the 19th century.
