A painted wooden schoolbox. High 40 cm. Wide 21 cm. Deep 7,5 cm. Featuring a man carrying a pair of buckets. In the margins the typical traditional Frisian decoration also referred to as from the village of "IJlst". Sides, top and lower rim in "trompe l'oeil" mahogany. In well preserved condition. Provenance: the former Carasso collection. Friesland, early 19th C.
