A so called "Father-Mother Cabinet". Wide 85 cm, high 76 cm, deep 36 cm. Painted on all sides, including the back in imitation mahogany. On the right side three drawers, the upper one with a key-operated lock. And on the left on top a drawer and under a door, both with key-locks. These small cabinets are rare and were only made in the province of North-Holland. They were usually placed in the hallway of the house. As the name indicates both the father and the mother had access to their own side to store personal belongings. Made around 1850.
